Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Many African American women are found to have dense breast tissue.  Early detection of a cancer can be missed by mammogram in these women.

It is more likely that the combination of  mammograms and MRIs can increase the detection rate of African-Americans with dense breast tissue; 33% (mammo) vs. 79% (MRI).

MRI funds are available through the program for women noted to have dense breast tissue by mammogram, and who do not have means to pay for an MRI. Some insurance companies will cover screening breast MRIs if certain eligibility criteria are met.

Each woman is different.

Why limit the possibilities?
