The Women's Wellness Clinic at Duke University Medical Center is a unique multidisciplinary program for high risk women offering access to a variety of services including:
Our clinic provides access to a multidisciplinary team of clinicians who specialize in breast cancer prevention, including: a medical oncologist, a breast surgeon, two gynecologists specializing in menopause and integrative health, a physician assistant, research coordinator, patient navigator, genetic counselors, radiologists and nurses. This specialized team can provide preventive options and recommendations that are on the cutting edge of clinical research. The clinic at Duke is based, in part, on the work of Dr. Carol Fabian, the director of the Breast Cancer Prevention Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Fabian’s program began in 1990 and, since its inception, well over 1000 women have undergone random fine needle aspiration there, most of them with high risk factors for breast cancer. Dr. Fabian’s research, along with the research and clinical efforts of the Duke breast cancer prevention team form the basis for the concept of this new clinic at Duke. Dr. Victoria Seewaldt and Dr. P. Kelly Marcom are Duke breast cancer prevention experts actively involved in the latest research efforts in this area. Our team members include:
