Study (AACES) Website

 

AACES is a research study seeking to better understand the causes of ovarian cancer in 
African American women.

Why AACES?

• Ovarian cancer is the 5th most common cause of death from cancer in women.
• AACES is the first study to focus on ovarian cancer in African Americans.
• African American women have worse survival than White women after a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. 
  The reason for this is not known.

Who will be in AACES?

• 1000 African American women with a recent diagnosis of ovarian cancer and 1000 women who have 
  never had the disease.
• Eligible women will be contacted by the study team directly through a letter in the mail.
• Women in AACES will be from 9 states: Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, 
  Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

 

By comparing women with and without ovarian cancer, we hope to learn more about the causes 
of this disease.
