The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke

General Information | Hope for Treatment Advances

There are medications available that may benefit patients with brain tumors with attention, memory, and behavioral difficulties. In a clinical trial conducted at the Brain Tumor Center at Duke, data suggest that the drug Aricept®, used to treat memory loss in Alzheimer’s patients, may be effective in some patients with brain tumors by improving certain types of memory problems. Similarly, Ritalin® may help children who suffer late effects of treatments for brain tumors. Clinical trials are ongoing.
