Analyst, IT, SRCandidate will provide backup to system administrator for all Cancer Center servers including management of Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Debian) servers, Windows Servers, Mac OSx server cluster, Virtual Iron virtualization environment, Veritas/Symantec NetBackup Enterprise backup installation.

Staff SpecialistJob summary: The primary focus of this job is 1) process revenue received by the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, 2) to maintain and create databases to facilitate event management; and 3) to create and provide appropriate lists for contacting friends of the cancer center through downloading and manipulating files from the University#s alumni and development systems database; and to maintain data integrity in this database. The person holding this position will possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel. Knowledge of Access is desirable. Strong attention to detail is a must. This position will also assist the Director of Advancement Services with budgetary support as required. Primary duties Develop and maintain event databases: Create and maintain databases to track all monies and registrations received by the Cancer Center for multiple events throughout the year. This assignment will include retrieving data from the University#s alumni and development systems database, manually entering data, and verifying data received in-house. Provide accurate reports to both donors and special events staff outlining attendees, donors, and team totals by downloading files from the University#s database into Excel, and/or manually updating databases as required. Contact team captains to provide update on totals raised. Attend events and set up registration stations, input data, and provide event totals by the end of that day#s event. Since most events occur on the weekend, this individual will need to be able to work a minimum of four pre-determined weekends throughout the calendar year and possibly some evenings. Data analysis: Segment and analyze data as requested by donor giving history, motive, frequency of gifts, record type, and demographics. Coordinate #donor thank you call program in the spring and fall months. Database maintenance: Update non-gift and biographical data within the University#s database including change of address, board service activity, requests for #no contact# and other related changes. Budgetary support: Provide assistance to Director of Advancement Services for PARIS and R3 through reconciling reports, filing, and PARIS entry. Processing of gifts: Assign appropriate fund and technique code to each gift received by the Cancer Center Development Office. Copy all checks and fileappropriately. Major Gifts Officer/Deputy Director of DevelopmentLeadership • Contributes to the overarching strategy for the direction of the office and the development of a major gifts/principal gifts culture. • Provides leadership and support of the Faculty Philanthropy Committee and one on one meetings with physicians to develop referrals and move prospects through the major gifts pipeline. • Works with key administrators to provide advice and support to areas who are contributing to the overall bottom line for the development office, i.e. Center for Survivorship, Duke Cancer Patient Support, etc. • Staffs special projects that require multi-disciplinary approaches, serving as counsel and facilitator to build bridges across Duke University. • Administers formalized staff development program for DCCC. • Stands in for Executive Director at regular meetings such as DUMC Senior Staff and DCCC Administrative staff providing a voice for vision and direction in this role. Management • Recruit, hire, train and retain top performing development staff. • Oversee work plan for entire development team including major gift metrics and dollar goals. • Work collaboratively with the Director of Communication for the Cancer Center on communications strategies and the following publications: Cancer Center Notes (produced quarterly) and The DCCC Annual Report (produced annually) and Development and Alumni Relations monthly report. • Work with Director of Advancement Services and Executive Director to monitor and track annual budget of $1.4 M: coming from three component parts while maintaining cost per-dollar- raised ratio within national guidelines and DUMC expectations. • Working with Advancement Services staff, provide vision and direction for stewardship and gift processing of more than 20,000 gifts, personalized stewardship plans for major donors, and regular reports for physicians and departments. Major Gifts/Principal Gifts • Manage major and principal gifts portfolio of DCCC prospects. • Submit to rigorous and consistent standards for the measurement of success—defined as, but not limited to: number of visits, number of asks, number of closes and projected dollar goals. • Assist Executive Director in management of Campaign Plan and DCCC Campaign. Identify new prospect names and develop strategies to engage high net-worth prospects regardless of existing affiliations with DCCC. • Establish standards for briefings and oversee preparation of information for key donor visits. • Support Executive Director and work closely with Director of Annual Fund and Board Relations to maximize volunteer impact, working with leadership to align purpose of boards to match institutional priorities. Budget/Funding Model • Manages $1.4M budget and space allocation for the staff, providing ultimate accountability and oversight for all expenditures. • Provide leadership and guidance on funding model that allows the development office to expand as appropriate. JOB CHARACTERISTICS & REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Ten or more years of development or related experience, including management responsibility, prospect management and successful track record of solicitations and stewardship. A well developed understanding of fundraising, demonstrated leadership abilities, significant experience managing and growing a successful staff; as well as a history of developing collaborative partnerships and prospect strategies with physicians are required.
