Our Mission:

The Oncology Treatment Center exists to provide comprehensive, high-tech ambulatory health care to adults, with a focus on Oncologic-Hematologic disorders and infusion therapy. We strive to administer quality physical and emotional support so that each individual receives patient-centered professional care, which enables them to achieve a realistic quality of life within the confines of their disease and treatments.

Our Scope of Practice:

The Oncology Treatment Center exists to provide comprehensive, high-tech health care to adults (18 years and older) requiring a variety of infusion therapies, focused predominantly on patients with oncologic-hematologic disorders. Examples of treatments, other than chemotherapy, that we routinely administer to patients include blood product transfusions, hydration fluids, antibiotics, hypercalcemic agents, hormones, coagulation therapy, antiemetics, immune globulin and a multitude of clinical trial therapies.

The Oncology Treatment Center is a state-of-the-art ambulatory infusion center, which provides a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere for treatments. The Center is staffed by experienced and highly skilled oncology nurse clinicians, who administer quality physical and emotional support, enabling each client to achieve a realistic quality of life within the confines of their disease and treatment. Our nurses have additional training, such as ACLS and OCN (oncology certification), and all of our staff (professional and ancillary support) are committed to making each visit to Duke a positive experience for our clients.

Meeting Patients’ Needs:

The Treatment Center’s first appointment is 7:30a.m. with the last scheduled appointment time 5 p.m.. This late appointment is reserved for patients with a treatment that will last no longer than 2 ½ hours. Appointments are necessary for the Treatment Room and can be made in the Clinic after your doctor’s visit or with the appointment desk in the Treatment Room itself.

In The NewsNurse with Patient
“…Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life.”

These words, taken from the final line of the Jaycee creed, come to life in the North Carolina Jaycees Outpatient Treatment Facility at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center.
