Hospital School
The Hospital School is part of the Durham Public School system and is staffed by North Carolina certified teachers. The school serves approximately 400 to 500 school age children a year in grades Pre-K through 12. The Hospital School is available to act as a liaison between a child and his or her home school during treatment, to facilitate academics during hospital stays and to provide referrals for special services.

School Re-Entry Assistance
It can be very difficult for a child who is suffering from a serious disease to return to school.  For this reason we are happy to provide assistance when the child is ready to return to school full-time. We offer a school re-entry program with actual school visits by members of our staff as a way to ease the child’s transition back to school either during or after treatment. We are willing to do whatever we can to help our patients return to school as quickly and as smoothly as possible.
